Doctor Examining Pregnant Woman

Pregnancy is an experience that comes with tremendous changes! Of course, the most common changes that you’d expect are your body changes, family adjustments, and daily routines.

A change that many pregnant women look forward to is being able to have a whole new pregnancy wardrobe … Not only that, but stocking up on things for your baby too!

If your due date is coming up soon, chances are you’re thinking about all the things you’ll need for the baby’s birth. Packing your hospital bag can be a very difficult process because you’ll not only be packing for you, but also for your baby, and your partner.

Have no fear, because we’re here with the ultimate checklist of hospital bag must-haves that will save you from all the stress and worry!

Toiletries

It’s a good idea to pack a bag full of all of your own toiletries so you feel most comfortable when using these necessities. It’s a good idea to start with the basic essentials: toothbrush and toothpaste, a hair brush and hair ties, deodorant, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner.

Keep in mind that travel sized toiletries will be your best friend at the hospital! Some extra “luxury” items that you may want to consider are face wipes and dry shampoo just in case you need to quickly freshen up!

Phone Charger

The last thing you need to worry about is your phone while having contractions, or going into labor. Your phone won’t be the most significant thing in the room, but it’s definitely essential for keeping in contact with family, friends, and loved ones.

Have a phone charger that you can keep near your hospital bed so that your phone is in close reach and you won’t have to worry about having trouble calling anyone at home. Plus, you’ll be ready to take mommy and baby selfies when the birth is all over!

Snacks

Having a baby can sure make you hungry -- something that you most definitely noticed during your pregnancy!

You never know how long you’ll be staying in the hospital, so it’s best to be prepared! Going into labor can be a long process, so pack yourself some of your favorite snacks that’ll cure your cravings and satisfy your hunger.

Your Own Pillow

Being comfortable and making yourself at home is one of the most important things you can do when you’re at the hospital! Many women will have an at-home birth for the sole reason of being able to be in the comfort of their own home, and having access to any of their own belongings.

If you are having a hospital birth, bringing your favorite pillow from home may give you that feeling of comfort that you need. You may also want to consider a maternity or nursing pillow that can help with breastfeeding as well.

Warm Clothing

You can never predict the weather in the hospital! Pack a couple pairs of warm socks for you to walk around the halls, and also some for after labor. Having a warm robe or sweater may also be your lifesaver if you’re feeling chilly in your hospital room.

Car Seat

You’ll have to shop for so many different baby essentials as a new parent! An essential that you’ll need even before you bring your baby home for the first time is a car seat set up in the back of your car.

Baby Clothes

Have an adorable and comfy coming-home outfit ready for your baby! A tip is to pack a couple different outfits in different sizes just to make sure one will fit. Your baby’s birth-day will be a day full of many photos, so remember that the outfit will be one for the books!

The Big Picture

Packing for the hospital may be a hectic experience if you’re in a rush and getting everything together at the last minute. It’s best to plan ahead, and be prepared with everything you need to reduce stress and ensure you don’t forget anything you may need!

Embrace the experience and make it a memorable one because the time you spend at the hospital waiting for your precious baby to be in your arms will definitely be unforgettable.
